“The Revolution”

The revolution has not been televised, but it has been digitized, monetized, and monopolized. So too, is the face of humanity being changed to its core. Though the winding streets of chaos, Bici.Arte. is the timeless quest for peace. Standing on a base of tradition, we report from the peak of human creation and discovery: bicycles, jewelry and gemstones. Bicycles and jewelry, beauty upon beauty; this perfecting of human creation reflecting a love of the inherent geometry of the very earth we live on, and, therefore, truth itself. An icon. A revolution. And nothing less.

This fabricated pendant was carefully handcrafted to include a moving, re-purposed bicycle cog at the centerpiece. Seeking to capture sensations of abundant freedom and movement–memories that I imagine are “stored” in each used bicycle component– I created this pendant to embody the connection between humanity and nature, industrial progression and sustainability, exciting technological advancement and elegant tradition.

  • Designed by hand based off of geometry of the bicycle cog.
  • Gemstone layout created.
  • Filigree was alloyed, drawn and hand formed.
  • All pieces were cut, domed, and fabricated by hand.
  • Stones set with bezel, prong, and bead-set techniques.
  • Final piece was assembled with cold setting techniques.
  • Hand engraved back design was hand drawn on the metal, and cut with a graver.
  • Finished to a high polish with stippled accents.
