A Bespoke Mother’s Ring: A Symbol of Family and Love
This exquisite 18k gold mother’s ring is a testament to the enduring bond between a mother and her children. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the ring features a vibrant garnet center stone, symbolizing the mother’s birthstone. Delicate filigree curls surrounding the garnet showcase multicolored sapphires, representing the birthstones of her four children.
The ring’s design was inspired by the client’s passion for the outdoors and her love of sharing nature with her family. The bicycle chain link incorporated into the piece adds a unique element, reflecting the client’s joy in cycling and the cherished memories she has created with her children. This design choice not only celebrates her active lifestyle but also serves as a constant reminder of the beautiful moments they have shared together.
The 18k gold used for this ring was alloyed in a captivating Apricot Red hue, complementing the rich color of the 8ct garnet. The gemstone is ethically sourced from a small-scale African mine, ensuring its traceability and sustainability.
Creating this meaningful and memorable piece was a privilege, and it is an honor to see my classic ring design adapted for such a personal and heartfelt creation.

Process
- 18k Gold stock, wire, and sheet alloyed and drawn by hand.
- Bicycle Chain Link incorporated at center of ring.
- Accents and bezel fabricated from 18k gold.
- Over one dozen individual components are soldered together by hand to create finished piece.
- All solder seams inspected under a microscope.
- After re-polishing, leaf details are cut with a hand graver, using a bright cut technique.
